Angel of Death11/1/2021 Angel of Death CostumeI'm posting this as an on-going work-in-progress. I feel this costume still needs so much more to make it truly magnificent, though it is pretty awesome at this point. The horns are paper mache over foil. I used foil to create the shape, then applied pieces of paper on the foil using wallpaper paste. I added hot glue to give the horns more detail and "ridges". Then I painted them brown accented with dry-brushed black. I made these in 2019. In 2021 I updated them to attach via a band between them. This gave them a lot of stability and allowed me to clip the band to my hair. I also re-did the bottoms of the horns so I can run bobby pins through the bottom. I made the bloody tears in 2021 using hot glue. I simply made the shape with the hot glue, then painted them once cooled. I attached them to my face with eyelash glue. The crown was purchased at Walmart in 2021. I added black suede string and blue crystals. I made the spikes out of hot glue, then covered them with dark red glittery resin. I wrapped thread around the spikes and crown to attach the spikes. Then I coated the thread in the dark resin. I created a body form by wrapping myself in duct tape. The duct tape was then cut off, reattached to itself and stuffed. I was able to create the armor directly on the body form to get the right shape and size for my body. I used paper mache and craft foam that I painted to resemble metal. The armor consists of a front and back piece, though I made eliminate the back piece. It can't be seen and it is uncomfortable! I made the armor several years ago and will update this post with the year when I get around to looking it up.
The sword was acquired in 2021. It is a foam sword from the Halloween store. I added some dry-brushed black paint to give it more detail. For the holster, I used EVA foam that I attached to an elastic band, which made it super easy to slip on. I used fabric to add detail to the holster. The fur shrug was purchased at Kohl's and the boots were found at TJ Maxx. Not pictured are the wings. I purchased two relatively inexpensive wings. I think the first set was found during a Halloween clearance sale in 2018. The second set was purchased in 2021 for $10 from Amazon. I cut the shoulder straps off one and hot glued it to the other wings. I plan to add more feathers to make them even longer. Lastly, the dress I wear with this is from an old Halloween costume I have had for several years. I suppose a good upgrade would be to actually make some amazing to replace this dress. Take a closer look at my husband's costume here! |
